Firstly it was altogether more Christmas-y than i expected. You couldn’t move in Hangzhou on Christmas eve – everyone seemed to be out drinking and eating. there were people selling Santa hats on the yan’an lu so it was just like being in Newcastle. I went Christmas shopping on Christmas eve which made it feel all the more familiar – wwj and mum were both getting non-surprise presents so i put to together a stocking for each – probably more fun in the preparation than the receiving but hey!

Christmas day was cool � started mercifully late due to wwj having an exam in the morning (yes it really isn�t a holiday here). Pretty cool Christmas day though � presents by the tree, bacon sandwich, watching the princess bride (which caj insists is the ultimate Christmas film (and was very good)). Then on to the Shamrock for top quality Christmas dinner. After dinner the whole pub played a board game and wwj, mum and I looked very cool in our hats. wwj did particularly well in the raffle. We left at a sensible time and came home to watch a a film (leon � not so Christmas-y)
